Barcode Festival returned to Magazine London on 7 July 2022 for a day of music, food and fundraising for GroceryAid, the charity supporting people who work in the grocery industry. Over 4,500 guests attended the event, which saw a sun-soaked all-day festival on the riverside Showground and continued late into the night with performances by Steps, Tinie Tempah and Bastille on the Skittles stage.
Fittingly, food and drink were at the centre of the day. The outdoor Marks & Spencers Demo Kitchen hosted Ainsley Harriott and Fiona Uyema, who shared food stories with the crowd as they cooked up some signature dishes. More than eighty of the industry’s leading brands hosted activations and giveaways, from Espresso martinis courtesy of Costa Coffee, to epic mac ‘n’ cheese stands and CBD cocktails.
Magazine London’s outdoor Showground was reimagined as a seaside funfair for the occasion, complete with Helter Skelter, deckchairs and selfie-ready fairground cut-outs. Between headliners on the Skittles stage guests enjoyed performances on The Bandstand by Drag Race UK superstar Divina di Campo and a DJ set from James Haskell.
Barcode Festival is unique in that it is an event by, for and in support of workers in the grocery industry. The 2022 edition raised a record-breaking £900,000, which will go towards providing vital emotional, financial and legal assistance for our essential workers. We’re looking forward to another memorable event when Barcode Festival returns to Magazine London on 6th July 2023.
